Job Overview
Hubbell is seeking an Import Compliance Specialist, to execute Hubbell’s import compliance activities.
Reporting directly to the Manager, Import Compliance, the Import Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring Hubbell’s operations follow trade compliance laws globally. These responsibilities will be accomplished through the maintenance and promotion of Hubbell’s Trade Compliance program. This position will be based in Shelton, Connecticut.
A Day In The Life
The Import Compliance Specialist will be expected to:
- Support businesses with trade compliance inquires and issues.
- Partner with Hubbell operations to identify, assess and mitigate trade compliance risks.
- Contribute to the maintenance of Hubbell’s Import Compliance related policies and work instructions.
- Partner with Hubbell operations globally to ensure customs entries are processed timely.
- Ensure all Customs bonds are active and adequate for Hubbell’s import activity.
- Attend customs broker-held quarterly business reviews.
- Support and perform transactional audits.
- Provide trade compliance training to appropriate personnel.
- Monitor ACE for import activity and Customs inquiries / directives.
What will help you thrive in this role?
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and professional certifications in an area of study relevant to this position.
- At least 3 years of Trade Compliance experience.
- High-level critical thinking and analytical skills and exceptional relationship management competencies to understand the impact and sensitivity of Trade Compliance issues.
- Customs and Border Protection License or similar experience required.
- Experience working with customs brokers.
- Experience responding to Customs and/or U.S. Department of Commerce requests, including CF 28 Forms and Post Shipment Verification document requests.
- Experience with SAP and/the SAP GTS module a plus.
- Understanding of and experience with Customs and Border Protection and/or U.S. Department of Commerce.
- Willingness to travel as needed up to 15%.
