The Trade Compliance Assurance Specialist is responsible for leading an integral part of Hubbell’s Trade Compliance (HTC) team to ensure operations are in compliance with all laws covering import and export regulations - worldwide. This is accomplished through the maintenance and promotion of the company’s trade compliance program. This position will be based in Shelton, Connecticut and lead the following critical programs for the group: audit, training, and continuous improvement.
What will help you thrive in this role?
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university preferred
- Previous management/leadership experience strongly desired
- Previous experience leading an audit program
- Experience with SAP and / the SAP GTS module a plus
- Understanding of and experience with Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), U.S. Treasury Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) would be a plus
- Willingness to travel as needed (less than 25%)
A Day In The Life
Execute audit program for Trade Compliance, to include:
- Maintain Training Program
- Ensure high-risk and high-volume sites are trained annually on export and import compliance
- Develop formal training plan for the enterprise
- Lead awareness initiatives for the enterprise
- Create and modify policies and procedures
- Create and modify work instructions
- Work with Export and Import teams to deploy audit and training resources and tools
- Enhance Trade Compliance processes through the use of continuous improvement tools
