Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced contract professional who is capable of driving the entire contract life cycle, from the proposal stage through execution. Responsibilities for this position will include: drafting, negotiation, communicating legal advice, contract administration and managing communications with business clients.  We are seeking a self-motivated individual with initiative and strong attention to detail who is highly organized and can multi-task competing priorities.  This position reports a member of the legal department, will be based in our Shelton, CT office, and requires the ability to travel up to 10%.

A Day In The Life

  • Provide guidance on commercial and government product and services agreements, supplier and sourcing contracts, proposals, distribution and agency agreements.
  • Draft, review, analyze, modify and negotiate various types of vendor and customer agreements including those related to materials, finished products, and services. Examples include Master Agreements, Purchasing Agreements, Software License Agreements, Professional Services Agreements, Distribution Agreements, Consulting Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, and the like.
  • Act as primary Legal point of contact for internal clients regarding contract issues and contract interpretation, including providing guidance on commonly requested revisions and non-standard terms, and respond to general contract questions.
  • Serve as administrator of enterprise-wide contract management system, manage outside vendor, trouble shooting and system updates and upgrades.
  • Assist with the development of processes and practices that standardize and streamline the contracting process including the enterprise-wide contract management system.
  • Support training, guidance and education of internal clients, business partners, and fellow legal department team members.
  • Assist with various complex and/or sensitive projects, as assigned. 
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate policies and maintain documentation related to third party intermediary compliance for assigned businesses.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years prior in-house work experience as a contracts manager or similar role.
  • Self-starter, willing to take initiative and lead projects.
  • Able to work independently within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to balance business needs with legal risks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with particular emphasis on client communication and interaction.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Effective communicator, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, coworkers, and colleagues.
  • Possess strong organizational and project management skills and the ability to handle high volume and balance competing demands.
  • Good judgment, a high level of professional integrity and the discretion, tact and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Detail oriented.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior public company in-house experience a plus.
  • Adept at software and systems.
  • A Juris Doctorate would be considered.
