Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

The Material Managerr oversees and supports the Purchasing & Planning functions for the Business Unit.  Duties include materials planning, materials control, materials strategy and all material project initiatives. This position is also a key contributor of lean and continuous improvement in the plant. Key performance indicators for this position are inventory days, customer on-time shipping to promised ship date, and vendor on time performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primary point of responsibility for materials management for the site; create development plans and opportunities for your team.
  • Ensures optimization of all materials management activities including scheduling, purchasing, inventory control, materials movement, supplier performance measurement, and indirect materials management. 
  • Drives interaction with Sourcing, Engineering, Accounting, Marketing and Quality Assurance in support of the business’s strategic goals. 
  • Develop and drive countermeasures for underperforming key processes and/or material suppliers. 
  • Drive the execution of corrective actions and identification of systemic issues.
  • Evaluate production activities for continuous improvement opportunities and present forward-looking capacity in assigned production cells
  • Work with demand and forecasting, incorporating current and accurate information
  • Execute with excellence around stock and demand replenishment providing feedback to supply chain on risks regarding replenishment levels and demand
  • Gather, analyze and validate data and create required documents in support of intra-company activities. 

Skills and Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Materials Management, Supply Chain
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of directly related experience in a planning/scheduling role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with SAP, MS Office applications required.  
  • Strategic thinker helping to improve KPIs and drive deliverables
  • Experience in statistical reporting, forecasting, and understanding of financial and operational impacts of forecasting.
  • Managerial experience related to standardizing planning and subsequent execution, reducing sourcing complexity and talent development. 
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes. 



Bachelors Degree in Business
