Job Overview
As Designer Lead, you will guide a group of Designers in the development of drawing packages. The successful candidate must be able to provide guidance and training following customer requirements, prioritize work and allocate resources to support deliverable schedules, drive improvement of drawing accuracy and rework, and provide communication between the teams. The candidate must also have functional knowledge in the development of drawings such as plan views, elevation & section views, foundation layouts & details, grounding layouts and details, and station material.

A Day In The Life
- Balance resource workload considering urgent customer requirements and deliverables
- Initiate efficiency improvements through the development of standard work across the department and remote offices
- Collaborate with CAD Technicians, Designers, and Engineers on technical issues and to ensure project deliverables are on time and within budgeted hours
- Develop training and mentoring of interns and designers
- Identify and facilitate training and continuous improvement opportunities for the design team
- Emphasize continuous quality improvement; monitor drawing and filing standards and ensure quality control procedures and directives are met
- Implement initiatives to continuously reduce drawing errors and improve deliverable accuracy
- Establish and track performance criteria that supports business goals
- Creation of station drawings such as plan views, sections & elevations, below grade details, and above grade details
- Provide detail drawing checks to ensure customer standards are adhered to along with overall drawing quality
- Ability to check and incorporate customer provided as built drawings
- Provide leadership to design team involving employee evaluations, career development, coaching, and technical mentorship

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum three to five years of experience in design, drafting or similar environment

- Proven skills in leading teams and process improvements

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated exceptional leadership capabilities & strategy deployment
- Knowledgeable in Microstation and AutoCAD
