Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

The production supervisor position is responsible for supervising employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. This position plans and assigns work, ensures compliance to policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintain compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Achieve manufacturing results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaches, counseling and disciplining employees.
  • Maintains work flow by monitoring all steps of the process, observing control points and monitoring equipment and resources.
  • Works closely with Maintenance and Engineering to ensure equipment uptime.
  • Work with Department Manager and Quality Management Team on customer complaints, quality issues, Non-conformance issues and process control improvements.
  • Implement cost reductions, develop reporting procedures and systems; facilitate corrections to malfunctions within the production process control points; initiate and fosters a spirit of cooperation within the department
  • Coordinate with staff and other production members with regards to die changes, inventory, daily production (press efficiencies), and quality concerns.
  • Assist in implementing LEAN concepts and continuous improvement activities…Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, 5S, Kan Ban, etc.
Skills and Experience
  • Must have a 4 year college degree or 5-7 years manufacturing experience in a lean, “hands on” environment
  • Must have led lean initiatives on the production floor…Kaizen, 5S, Kan Ban, Poka-Yoke, etc.  Be able to quantify impact of lean initiative on their business 
  • Ability to lead, motivate and mentor large teams of hourly associates
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Strong analytical/critical thinking
  • Strong accountability, consistency and follow-through skills
  • Familiar with and use SPC on a regular basis
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment, often under time constraints
Bachelors Degree in Management or Chemical Engineering
