Position Overview
: Provide laboratory testing services to Hubbell business units and third-party customers in the Wadsworth Test Laboratory emphasizing in high-energy pulsed power testing of lightning and surge arresters.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as subject-matter expert with regards to testing of high voltage lightning and surge arresters as outlined in Arrester industry standards IEC 60099-4 and IEEE C62.11.
- Oversee operation of the Pulsed Power Laboratory in Wadsworth, Ohio including scheduling of test requests, test program development, execution, and reporting.
- Plan for equipment maintenance, upgrades and replacement for existing lab equipment. Assist Laboratory Manager to define, initiate and manage capital equipment and automation projects.
- Recommend new test methods and test equipment to support Hubbell and third-party test needs.
- Review test data for accuracy, consistency with test plans, and approving reports for release.
- Assist technicians in performing product testing including setup, planning and reporting.
- Maintain laboratory accreditation to ISO 17025, including managing equipment calibration records, maintenance, and quality documents and procedures.
- Provide guidance and consulting to Hubbell business unit engineers with respect to arrester testing.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline required.
- Master's in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
- Minimum 3 years experience in electrical equipment manufacturing, electrical utility experience, or test laboratory operations.
- Previous experience in product testing, electrical research, quality control, standards engineering and/or reliability engineering roles.
- Must be able to effectively communicate complex topics often using teleconferencing tools, presentations and speaking in front of groups.
- Must be a self starter with strong drive, initiative, and ability to work with limited management input.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, domestic and international.
