This position will be expected to provide manufacturing engineering related initiatives that are required to support the Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) manufacturing facility.  This engineer will work closely with the entire MOV team to maintain and improve the Quality, Cost, and Delivery metrics for the MOV product lines.

A Day In The Life

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all duties while maintaining proper industrial safety standards.
  • Equipment Execute Manufacturing Engineering activities to support and improve MOV manufacturing, including:
    • Assure equipment is maintained and repaired in a manner that assures reliable, repeatable manufacturing results.
    • Troubleshoot manufacturing, quality and assembly issues using root cause analysis and other Lean techniques.
  • Develop, justify, construct, and execute Authorizations for Expenditure (AFE) for capital as upgrades and replacements become necessary or in support of capacity growth.
  • AFE/Equipment Improvement - Spearhead equipment improvement to get maintenance project workload down.
  • Work with internal and external resources to research, develop, specify and implement a cost-effective means to improve the homogenization of the power being supplied to the existing powder compaction presses.
  • Work closely with MOV Manufacturing department to assure that ceramic sintering and annealing operations are performed at proper profiles and to assure profile transitions are carried out to assure MOV quality is maintained.
  • Work closely with maintenance department to troubleshoot escleations as it relates to equipment
  • Assure equipment is maintained and repaired in a manner that assures reliable, repeatable manufacturing results.
  • Champion 5S and lean activities such as process documentation, Kaizen activities, TPM, Preventative Maintenance Kits, Inventory systems, auditing of cycle times,  etc.
  • Other duties as assigned 

What will help you thrive in this role?

PREFERRED TRAINING AND EDUCATION: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Civil Engineering or equivalent degree
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience in a lean and “hands on” environment
  • Allen Bradley controls experience
  • Familiarity with standard dimensional measuring equipment and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • A high degree of knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required, AutoCAD, and familiarity with a factory MRP system such as SAP is desired
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequently work in heat or cold, dry or humid factory environment.
  • Ability to occasionally work on ladders or mezzanines, ability to perform close visual inspection.
  • Able to work in an environment with electromagnetic fields
