Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile Product Manager within the Hubbell Protection & Control’s Product Management team to support our growing portfolio of Power, Energy, Revenue and Power Quality meters and the respective Energy Management Software suites for utility, industrial, and large commercial customers.  This is a cross-functional role bridging product development, application engineering, customer engagement and business strategy.  You will be instrumental in guiding products from concept through commercialization - ensuring they meet customer needs, regulatory standards while being profitable.

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by: 

•    Develop the product and technology/engineering roadmap for Hubbell/EIG’s meters and software product lines.
•    Define and manage the engineering/product strategy and roadmap in accordance with Hubbell’s product development processes.
•    Analyze project feasibility by reviewing product demand, technical specifications, technology requirements, engineering resource needs, manufacturing capabilities, and technical application capabilities.
•    Conduct detailed market research, voice of customer, and competitive analysis to identify gaps, opportunities, and product differentiators.
•    Work closely with Project Management Office (PMO) to coordinate and monitor the progress of sustaining and new product development launches.
•    Be a subject matter expert with respect to the overall solution and each product’s technical capabilities in the portfolio.
•     Lead the development of and delivery of new product or product enhancement requirements and specifications per Hubbell’s product development processes.

•    Plan and coordinate beta and pilot programs with strategic customers to support product testing that is compliant with Hubbell’s product development process.
•    Participate and influence engineering standards in cross Hubbell engineering events, IEEE standards, NEMA standards committees and other related standards organizations.
•    Participate in pre-sales activities such as demos, technical discussions, proposal support, and application recommendations. 
•    Lead the development of sales and training presentations, application notes, product selection tools, and provide internal/external training on products and applications.
•    Work with leadership, finance, sales, and operations to develop pricing strategies, budgets, cost estimates, and assist with the business unit strategy development.
•    Drive and maintain regional product certifications by engaging with the regional certification bodies, regional sales teams, application engineers, and internal/external testing labs and R&D teams.

What will help you thrive in this role?

 

 •    Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
•    5 to 7 years of experience in product management, application engineering, product development, or technical sales and marketing with power quality metering, energy metering, revenue metering, power distribution, or energy management systems.
•    Strong understanding of power system fundamentals, power quality, harmonics, energy metering, LV and MV power distribution systems, energy management systems.
•    Experience with SCADA, industrial and utility protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, DNP, IEC61850, PMU, SMTP, SNTP, DLMS.
•    Experience with new product certification processes and standards such as UL, ANSI, IEEE, IEC, CE, etc
•    Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
