Job Overview
The Manager II Product Engineering provides the direct Engineering support and liaison necessary to maintain required levels of production and performance of products across manufacturing locations through activities such as product testing, failure analysis, material review, design and documentation changes, etc. This position is specifically responsible for aiding in the minimization of scrap, the prevention of production holds, the avoidance of recalls, the implementation of corrective actions, cost reductions, and compliance with ISO 9002.
A Day In The Life
Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by:
Serving in a leadership role, directly supervising product engineers.
Providing sound and timely analysis of manufacturing problems.
Assisting in the analysis of product failures from the field.
Reviewing all design change requests. Providing administrative system (database) for DCRs.
Generating, or assigning responsibility for generating, engineering changes in response to all accepted design change requests.
Reviewing ECRs for existing products.
Participating for Engineering on any Cat. Team or Lean Mfg./6 Sigma project assigned by supervisor, Department Mgr. or V.P. Engineering.
Assisting Quality and the Manager of Certification in the maintenance of third-party certification of WD-K platform products and facilities.
Evaluating and approving all replacement tooling first piece inspection reports.
Assisting Design Engineering in the introduction of new products.
Managing minor redesign projects.
Maintaining, in cooperation with the Manager of Certification, an awareness of third-party certification agency requirements and impending changes thereto affecting the company’s product or ability to ship.
What will help you thrive in this role?
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience (required)
Ten years minimum in design or manufacture of electrical products (required)
Minimum five years supervisory experience preferred
