Job Overview
The SMT (Surface Mount Technology) operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of SMT production equipment to ensure efficient, high-quality electronic assembly. This role supports production by operating key machinery including screen printers and pick-and-place systems, while maintaining adherence to process standards and quality requirements.
A Day In The Life
Key Responsibilities
• Operate and monitor SMT equipment, including screen printers and pick-and-place machines, to support production schedules.
• Perform machine setup, changeovers, and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Ensure accurate solder paste application and component placement according to production specifications.
• Inspect PCB assemblies for defects and verify quality standards are met.
• Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve process issues.
• Maintain and clean SMT equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Follow ESD, safety, and company procedures at all times.
• Document production data, issues, and corrective actions as required
What will help you thrive in this role?
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in an SMT manufacturing environment (preferred).
• Hands-on experience operating SMT screen printers and pick-and-place equipment.
• Basic understanding of electronic components and PCB assembly processes.
• Ability to read work instructions, assembly drawings, and BOMs.• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Preferred Skills (Plus Qualifications)
• Experience with SMT machine programming is a strong plus.
• Experience working with Juki SMT equipment is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with SPI (Solder Paste Inspection) and AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) systems.
• Knowledge of IPC standards (such as IPC-A-610).
