Job Overview

The Embedded Firmware Test Engineer coordinates the activities of a group of Lab Technicians engaging in the testing of wiring devices and components thereof and works independently to oversee the tests and ensure tests are being completed. The Test Engineer designs, develops, modifies and evaluates electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment, or other hardware systems and/or electrical engineering applications.

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by: 

  • Assisting with the scheduling of lab assignments and equipment maintenance to achieve efficient utilization of the Test Lab facilities.  
  • Supporting certification agency representatives in the inspection and testing of wiring devices and their associated products.  
  • Assisting with the design and devising of test procedures for new products, including the designing of any related test apparatus.  
  • Reviewing and substantiating data, measurements and calculations to the satisfaction of both internal and outside agency representatives.  
  • Setting up using standard procedures with Lab Techs to conduct testing of wiring devices and enclosures etc.  
  • Training new Lab Technicians.  
  • Setting up and operating all components in the high-power electrical test circuits. This includes components such as step-down transformer and its secondary taps, resistive and inductive load banks, secondary protective systems, and endurance machinery. 
     

What will help you thrive in this role?


Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (required) 

3-6 years of experience in test and measurement environment (required) 

Ability to read complex blueprints and schematics to troubleshoot and repair Test Lab equipment.  

Working knowledge of applicable requirements of regulatory bodies such as U.L., CSA and the National Electrical Code.  

Experience with test and measurement equipment and methodologies for electrical systems
