Job Overview

The Electronics Inspection Technician is responsible for performing visual and mechanical inspection of electronic assemblies, PCBAs, and related components to ensure compliance with IPC-A-610 standards and internal quality requirements. This role supports production, quality assurance, and engineering teams by identifying defects, documenting findings, and helping drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by: 

  • Perform in-process and final inspection of electronic assemblies, including SMT and through-hole components.
  • Inspect PCB assemblies using microscopes, magnification tools, and measurement devices.
  • Evaluate solder joints, component placement, polarity, labeling, and workmanship in accordance with IPC-A-610 Class 2/3 criteria.
  • Review work orders, assembly drawings, BOMs, and specifications to verify compliance.
  • Document inspection results clearly and accurately using company quality systems.
  • Identify nonconformances and communicate issues to production, engineering, and quality teams.
  • Verify rework and repairs performed according to IPC-A-610 and related standards.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action activities as required.
  • Support incoming inspection of electronic components as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment following ESD and safety protocols.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • 2–5 years of experience in electronics assembly or inspection.
  • PC-A-610 Certification
  • Strong understanding of SMT, through-hole, and mixed technology assembly processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • High attention to detail and strong manual dexterity.
  • Familiarity with ESD procedures and safe handling of electronic components.
  • Proficient in documenting findings and using quality control software or systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and / or experience with AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) equipment.
  • Knowledge of IPC-7711/7721 rework and repair standards.
  • Background in ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments such as aerospace, defense, medical, or industrial electronics.
