Job Overview

  • Plan, schedule and requisition material to support production and Contract Manufacturers by maintaining planning parameters of lead-time, reorder point, and reorder quantity in accordance with the companies’ inventory and shipment objectives.

A Day In The Life

  • Monitor inventory levels and identify potential stockouts or surpluses.
  • Maintain current promise dates on purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of all buy-part components required for kits
  • Prioritize work orders and coordinate with Stockroom, purchasing and Contract Manufacturer
  • Create and maintain shortage report showing demand and supply.
  • Create consignment work orders, transfer orders, and reallocate parts.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify potential stockouts or surpluses.
  • Ensure purchase req’s are being generated for required kits.
  • Monitor and reduce excess to policy and excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Expedite parts required for kits.
  • Communicate with vendors both foreign and domestic and maintain these relationships.
  • Interfaces daily with engineering and suppliers to resolve component issues in a timely manner to ensure delivery schedules are achieved. Utilize knowledge of parts to suggest and find alternate parts for engineering to approve to remedy long lead time or unavailable materials.
  • Purchase various commodities and services to satisfy direct buys per demands of the MRP system.
  • Work with receiving and accounts payable to reconcile receiving errors and invoice issues.
  • Monitor and ensure supplier on time delivery performance.
  • Price and delivering negotiation focusing on cost reductions.
  • Assist with Commodity Management, item information: HTS Code, COO, for SED creation
  • Locate hard to find parts.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Associate degree in business or equivalent work experience
  • At least 5 years of planning, purchasing, supply chain, and inventory management experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Must have strong negotiation skills, excellent verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and grasp concepts quickly.
  • Basic understanding of landed cost calculations (freight, lead time, INCO terms, payment terms, etc.)
  • Familiarity with general supply chain terms and practices in the electrical manufacturing industry.
