Job Overview
This position is resonsible for the implementation, sustainment, and continuous improvement of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) initiatives, policies, and procedures for the Vega Baja site. Provides direction, oversight, and guidance to operations and office leadership, enables the education, training, and rollout of updated policies, develops procedures, oversees their efficacy and recommends modifications and updates of work practices and protocols to drive continuous improvement.
A Day In The Life
LEADERSHIP AND TRAINING
- Coordinate with onsite operational leadership teams to help drive their safety culture, policy and procedure harmonization and compliance efforts and be primary contact for safety concerns and situations.
- Implementation and sustainment of EH&S program across all locations and sharing best practices.
- Responsibility for all EHS financial planning and approvals to include supporting local EHS budgets and AFE support.
- Direct Regulatory Agency Interaction in the Commonwealth of PR and federal (US)
- Implement the standardization of training initiatives from HCI to ensure harmonization and compliance at each site.
- Oversee environmental programs, permitting, monitoring, and reporting for all sites.
- Ensure all sector sites comply with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding EH&S
COMPLIANCE
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental laws, regulations and Hubbell Policies and Procedure
- Ensure implementation of Hubbell EHS Programs, Policies and Procedures as appropriate to each facility/location.
- Develop and lead change management to assure risk mitigation.
RISK IDENTIFICATION AND MANAGEMENT/PLANT RATIONALIZATION
- Ensure sites are evaluating safety risks associated w/ site processes.
- Work with sites on closure of corrective actions of all EH&S assessments.

What will help you thrive in this role?
EDUCATIONAL, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college (preferred in Environmental Sciences or Engineering)
- Minimum of 8- 10 years demonstrated EHS leadership experience with environmental, health and safety focus. Manufacturing experience preferred.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Strong knowledge of Environmental local health and safety programs and U.S. health and safety regulations.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communications skills in both, English and Spanish.
- Computer Skills: Must have strong Microsoft Office, e-mail, and other PC application skills.
- Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
- Project Management: Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and budget; Manages project team activities.
