Job Overview

This position provides Quality Assurance support to the Company to ensure Business Units and Support Functions Areas accomplishments quality related objectives, and the compliance with the company quality product certifications: CSA, UL, ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 standards. Establish Systematic Strategic plan to improve Quality Management System.  This position has direct responsibility for the Quality Laboratory, Incoming Inspection, Document Control, Agencies Certifications, Supplier Compliance activities, Quality Engineer and Auditors.

A Day In The Life

  • Manages a site-wide, multi-product quality program, through both direct and indirect reporting relationships.
  • Establish strategic plans to improve organization QMS, Cost of Poor Quality, Internal Nonconformance, Customer Complaints and external nonconformances.   
  • Along with the Manufacturing Business Unit Staff, participates in the evaluation of process, machinery, and equipment problems affecting quality and the development/implementation of corrective actions.
  • Develops and implements quality plans to ensure conformity of purchased material, manufactured parts and final products to quality standards.
  • Manages the UL/CSA laboratory activities, activities pertaining to inspection and test results, Calibration Program and test instruments.  Act as a regulatory representative for ISO 17025.
  • Revise and update the Quality Controlled Procedure to incorporate changes and enhancements.
  • Develops and maintains all quality systems such as SPC, gauge calibration, corrective actions, product performance inquiries, internal auditing, and first article inspection.
  • Meets with vendors, customers, quality representatives, and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality problems as required.
  • Ensure timely action plan is provided to manufacturing for the effectiveness in addressing abnormality quality issues.
  • Prepares for and represents the Company in all internal and external audits.
  • Responsible for the Incoming Inspection area, manage the Incoming Inspection plans to meet existing part compliance or new part introduction.  Makes final decisions concerning accepting/rejecting incoming material.
  • Prepares all necessary reports as required by customers and staff personnel.
  • Controls department expenses to budgetary standards.
  • Responsible for the customer complaint performance, establish RCCA to mitigate product failure by implementing strategic plan, risk assessment to control customer impact.  Fully understanding on product containment and resolution. 
  • Participates in the supplier qualification process.  Provides guidelines for supplier's quality performance evaluation and rating.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Quality Management Council as well as schedule, manage and participate in external and internal Quality audits.
  • Develop, Interviews, recommends hiring, promotions, special merit increases, and establish actions of supervised personnel.  Ensure department members are sufficiently cross trained.
  • Gives final approval of operating expenditures up to corporate guidelines.
  • Responsible for Local and Federal Labor Laws and Regulations compliance.  Manage Department resources to assure quality team fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s in business, Science, or Engineering with Master in Business or Science, preferably, and a minimum of five (5) years manufacturing industry management experience, of which at least three (3) years shall be within the Quality field
  • Minimum experience of Five (5) year in similar positions
  • Fluent in written and verbal English and Spanish Languages
  • Must have proficient working knowledge of ISO standards
  • Oral and Written comprehension, communicates effectively
  • Monitoring/Assessing performance to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Computer knowledge: Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to travel on a limited basis 0-20%

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing
  • Knowledge in Six Sigma, DOE and Statistical Tools using Minitab
  • Knowledge in Process Capability and Characterization; Cpk and Cp
  • Profident in UL, CSA, NSF Regulatory standards for laboratory compliance
  • CQA, CQE or CQM Certifications
  • Lean Six Sigma Belt Certification
  • SAP end user knowledge
