Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

 

We are hiring a National Sales Manager to our growing team! 

The National Sales Manager is responsible for leading, training, and managing the sales team to increase profitable revenue. They should have technical proficiency in the product line and market segments, work with customers, and formulate territory plans and goals. The manager should also communicate customer needs to the company, allocate time and manage sales calls, and develop product depth to generate new sales. The job requires a bachelor's degree in Business Management or a related field, 7+ years of experience, strong interpersonal skills, judgment, sales background, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. The manager must be willing to travel up to 70% of the time and have strong written and oral communication skills.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Generate sales for HGUS products to both established and new gas utilities, gas and water, propane and plumbing customers and distributors.  HGUS’s strategy requires that the Regional Sales Managers, Account Managers, and the National Sales Manager work closely with our customers to understand the customer’s business and the end user. 
  • Increase sales at a rate that is equal to or greater than company performance and plans.
  • Technically proficient in all aspects of position including an understanding of the performance of HGUS’s product line in each market segment, gas installation procedures & techniques, and codes & standard requirements.
  • Coach, mentor and train Regional Sales Managers.  Knowledgeable of competitors in each territory and their product fact, features, and benefits; how products are marketed; competitors’ pricing strategies; and market trends.
  • Work with Vice President of Sales to formulate annual territory plans and goals.  Identify top 25 customers in each market and work with Regional Sales Managers and Account Managers to drive sales and customer support consistently in each territory. 
  • Communicate the needs of our customers to the company and work diligently to positively resolve customer requests. 
  • Allocate time and manage customer sales calls to meet the 80/20 rule accordingly. 
  • Work with Vice President of Sales to formulate and execute customer partnerships and incentives.
  • Understand dynamics of sales territories and proactively develop product depth to generate new sales dollars.

 

Skills and Experience

 

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Management or related field with 7+ years experience
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time
  • Strong interpersonal skills, seasoned judgment and a strong sales background
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
