Position Overview
The Application Engineer (Meters & AMI) performs a key role within the Quality & Customer Service team in the provision of technical pre-sales and after-sales support to end-customers and sales channel partners of Aclara Meters Philippines, Inc. (AMP). The Application Engineer also participates in new opportunity discussions with customers. Improving overall customer experience and satisfaction via responsiveness to customer support needs, generating new business opportunities, and conducting product trainings for AMP and HUS employees are primary objectives of the Application Engineer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead technical presentations to customers on Aclara solutions and capabilities to address specific customer needs.
- Configure Meter/AMI demonstration environment and support Sales in customer demonstrations.
- Assist and support sales & commercial team in product presentations and proposal generation; support preparation of product/project cost estimates.
- Manage internal and customer product issues; coordinate with Aclara experts when needed.
- Provide technical training and support to customers, AMP employees, and sales channel partners.
- Develop business network with utility customers, regulators and consultants; be viewed as an industry expert on Metering & AMI.
- Monitor ERC and NTC rules and regulations relevant to Aclara AMI and metering products; initiate and secure type-approval renewals and applications with ERC and/or NTC as may be required.
- Review customer bid documents and produce technical compliance statements; seek support from Aclara experts where necessary.
- Understand Aclara product roadmaps in relation to customer requirements and regulatory standards.
- Understand customers' use cases and environment, and provide appropriate technical input and solutions.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical Engineering, Control and Instrumentation Engineering, or other related fields from a reputable college or university
- Licensed ECE, with substantial exposure and experience in electric utility operations, metering and AMI, IT networking (hardware & software) applications is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in electric utility industry to include Automatic Meter Reader (AMR), AMI, smart metering, meter data management applications, neighborhood area networks, IT networking.
- Customer-focused mindset, and a passion for customer face time and ability to satisfy customer needs both in office and field environment.
- Demonstrated leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong creative and problem-solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Highly organized.
- Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to travel up to 70% via air or land.
- Ability to lift, assemble, handle, and use various electrical & communication equipment and tools.
