Position Overview

Aclara Technologies, LLC has an opening for a Senior System Engineer in St. Louis, MO.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop system designs for high volume electronic products associated with the AMI industry. Develop system and product specifications, input/output interfaces and processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Participate in the development of project plans and product deployment and provide assistance in resolving customer technical support issues. Work with Marketing and Management to understand customer requirements for communication system applications. Perform end-to-end system analysis and design of a complex communication system and write system specifications capturing functionality, performance, interfaces, and data processing. Support Marketing in the analysis of new systems, including writing analysis/simulation programs or developing Excel spreadsheets. Support field installation questions using Aclara systems knowledge and specialized analysis. Develop system integration test approach and methods to ensure system meets requirements. Ensure designs exceed requirements of governing agencies (e.g., FCC, FM, U/L, ANSI, etc.). Participate in technical reviews of the work performed by the group. Develop/design electric distribution devices for Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems including customer meters (commercial and residential), and other smart grid electronic devices (i.e. power line and radio frequency communication that provides data to the utility company to efficiently manage their transmission and distribution of power (and billing usage) through-out the electrical grid.

 

Skills and Experience

Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field and at least five years of progressive experience analyzing and designing complex embedded systems. In the alternative, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field and at least three years of experience analyzing and designing complex embedded systems. Must also possess the following: at least two years of experience defining complex products working with the hardware, firmware and system level requirements for the product; at least two years of experience creating product specifications detailing functionality, performance, interfaces, and defining algorithm; at least two years of experience developing system architecture and designing systems that interface with other applications or modules; at least two years of experience using requirements management systems, such as AzureDevops; and at least two years of experience with real time network analysis.
