Job Overview

Provide technical excellence in developing Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA) for high volume electronic products associated with the Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) industry.  Contribute to the development of PCBA deliverables from layout to production launch.  Execute product deployment tasks and provide support in resolving field issues as required. Function as technical expert when required.

A Day In The Life

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Responsible for PCB design of complex, high density multilayer PCBAs w/ RF, Analog, and High-Speed Digital circuits
•    Translate input from RF, Electronic and Mechanical Design Engineers into detailed schematics and PCB layouts.
•    Ensure meeting design parameters along with engineering, test, assembly and fabrication standards and guidelines. 
•    Create and maintain ECAD symbols and footprints in company libraries.
•    Preparation and implementation of checklists and reviews for layout and design releases.
•    Generation and Release of Engineering documentation in Aclara Product Lifecycle Management system for PCB design packages: 

o    Gerber files, Fabrication, Assembly and Panel drawings, etc.
o    Review and ensure all released parts conform to manufacturer, IPC, and company standards.
o    Documentation of new parts, including vendor documentation (datasheets, environmental compliance certificates, etc.), to match ECAD libraries.

•    Provide documentation to and work with Purchasing Agents, Fabricators and Assemblers. 
•    Maintain Aclara technological market advantage by continuous improvement of PCBA design and process by staying current with the latest PCB material, layer construction, manufacturing guidelines, and implementing into designs and practices.
•    Ensure Aclara success by collaborating closely with Engineers and cross-functional teams to meet product requirements, timelines, and quality.

What will help you thrive in this role?

Skills and Experience
•    5+ years of direct PCB layout experience. IPC Certification a plus.
•    Experience/proficiency with Cadence based Design (ORCAD Capture and Allegro). Altium experience is an added advantage.
•    Experience with RF, analog, digital, high speed, impedance control layout techniques along with EMI/EMC is mandatory. Thermal and mechanical performance considerations are an added advantage.
•    Mechanical aptitude and 2D mechanical drafting CAD tool experience required. SolidWorks experience is a plus.
•    Proficient in creating and maintaining schematic symbols and PCB layout footprints, and STEP files in associated programs and libraries.
•    Knowledge of IPC, UL, FCC, and CE Certifications.
•    Experience in DFx methodologies.
•    Knowledge of Electronic Circuits and their functionality. 
•    Knowledge of ECAD to MCAD transfer techniques helpful.

Education

•    Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
