Job Overview

The Senior Accountant will provide accounting expertise to ensure the timely and accurate processing and reporting of accounting and financial transactions and will assist with implementing processes that ensure strong internal controls. This position will require an individual who has a solid understanding of the fundamentals of accounting, accounting process and system improvements and internal controls. This role will support Systems Control and can be based in either Iron Mountain, MI or St. Louis, MO. This is a hybrid position.

A Day In The Life

  • Perform month-end close routines, including preparing journal entries and preparing account reconciliations in Blackline
  • Perform SOX controls as assigned and assist with internal and external control audits
  • Ensure compliance with existing company policies and procedures
  • Assess proper accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP
  • Provides research, analysis and support for other tasks, as requested.
  • Ensuring timely updates of the status of all CIP projects and their timely closures
  • Ensure proper fixed asset tagging for new assets
  • Provide support to maintain costing for projects and inventory
  • Other special projects as necessary

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 3 - 5 years of accounting, auditing and related experience
  • Knowledge of Syteline, SAP, OneStream and Blackline is highly desirable.
  • Highly organized with an ability to work well under tight time constraints and simultaneously manage multiple tasks.
  • Public accounting experience desirable
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, process flows and policies and procedures
