Division Overview

Hubbell Utility Solutions (HUS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HUS is also deeply engaged in product solutions for the Utility Communications and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) space and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HUS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HUS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas, and water industries.

 

HUS has four business units. Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) is our electrical components and infrastructure business. Aclara is our AMI and Meters business and also includes an installation business. Hubbell Gas Connectors and Accessories (HGCA) sells connectors and accessories for the repair, replacement and refurbishment of natural gas systems. Our fourth business is our Protection and Controls business which is our newest business initiative to drive substation communications, control and protection solutions. HUS provides these solutions in the Electric Utility, Water, Gas and Communications Market.

Position Overview

The incumbent will oversee the logistics of all HUS led trade shows and events. This includes managing the master schedule of tradeshows, coordinating across business units to identify opportunities to participate in tradeshows as one Hubbell, and aligning with Hubbell Enterprise Marketing.  In addition, the Marketing/Tradeshow Specialist will assist in communicating product updates and new products to the HUS sales team, distributors, and external customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain master list of tradeshows and events  
  • Establish annual budget needs for tradeshows and events; Participate in budget meetings, providing input for events
  • Serve as main contact for show services before, during and after tradeshows
  • Coordinate review and signature of any required tradeshow contracts
  • Lead event planning meetings to coordinate logistics, materials needed and timelines
  • Issue payment for tradeshows and events via Purchase Orders or company-provided credit card in accordance with Hubbell policies
  • Ensure marketing materials and branded materials are delivered on time
  • Develop standards, procedures, and best practices for tradeshows
  • Solicit quotes and submit purchase requests
  • Track and report inventory of branded items
  • Write email copy for marketing programs and write/distribute press releases when needed
  • Report results of events to help in future planning, focusing on lead gen, engagement, survey responses, etc.
  • Engage with Sales to coordinate, communicate and optimize event impact
  • Coordinate with product management and engineering to gain understanding of upcoming product updates and new products releases
  • Craft and distribute timely and relevant communications about upcoming product updates and new product releases to Sales, Channel Partners, and Customers
  • Collect and distribute tradeshow leads to ensure that proper follow-up occurs
  • Coordinate logistics of dinners/catering at tradeshows that involve Hubbell Sales staff
  • Work with tradeshow organizers to drive Hubbell participation (e.g., speaking and presenting spots) on the agenda
  • Coordinate logistics for internal Sales meetings and customer visits to various Hubbell locations
  • Coordinate meeting scheduling with customer executives and Hubbell Sales

Skills and Experience

Required:

  • Two (2) years of professional work experience
  • Excellent written/verbal skills
  • Experience reading/understanding contracts and forms
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Strong project management skills, with ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Experienced with planning in-person events
  • Ability to develop rapport, influence others and maintain strong working relationships
  • Must be self-motivated, persistent, and able to work independently
  • Excellent listening, communication, and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple projects at a time while maintaining sharp attention to detail
  • Track all relevant lead management activity using Salesforce.com
  • Must be available for occasional travel

 

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in the Electric, Water, or Gas Utility industry.
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM tool.

Bachelors Degree in Marketing or Business
