Job Overview
The Hubbell Internship Program is a 10 to 12-week program providing students the opportunity to gain corporate experience, learn about all aspects of our business, and prepare students with the kind of experience needed to have a rewarding career at Hubbell and beyond.
As the Marketing Communications Intern – Content, you will support the organization in developing and implementing its marketing content. You will work on projects under the direction of the marketing communications manager, working closely with department copywriters and senior copywriters. The opportunity will focus on development of short-form content for campaigns and digital assets.
As an intern, you will typically support one or more experienced marketing communications staff members in the performance of assignments. You will spend time shadowing staffers and have unique assignments that support larger projects. In addition, you will participate in additional content team initiatives and activities/events that will help you build a strong network within the Hubbell community.
A Day In The Life
Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. You will, on any given day:
- Apply skills and knowledge learned in the classroom to on-the-job experiences.
- Work with experienced team members and colleagues on comprehensive, value-added projects.
- Build technical skills specific to your major and professional aspirations.
- Develop professionally by forging professional relationships and learning about the industry.
- Gain knowledge of the industry as it pertains to the Hubbell businesses.
- Strengthn planning and organizational skills.
- Work on challenging, robust projects that will provide practical experience.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives.
- Manage multiple projects with overlapping tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Provide support and assistance to co-workers as appropriate.
Your internship will culminate with a presentation to the local management team at the end of the program.
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Be enrolled in an accredited university, working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in marketing, communications, journalism, or writing (with emphasis on business or professional writing).
- Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Strong verbal and excellent written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to think critically, analyzing and evaluating possible solutions and recommending and acting on solutions.
- Willingness to dig in and learn marketing platforms.
- Demonstrated understanding of the various forms of marketing content and willingness to learn their appropriate applications.
- Experience producing content outside of academia (blogs, social media, website content or other) preferred.
