Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview:


The Hubbell Summer Internship Program is a 12-week program providing students the opportunity to gain corporate experience, learn about all aspects of our business, and prepare students with the kind of experience needed to have a rewarding career at Hubbell. The Engineering Intern position offers a variety of opportunities including basic engineering tasks related to design, analysis, test, integration and systems engineering. Engineering Interns will typically support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as the day-to-day operations of the engineering department. Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which will help them build a strong network within the Hubbell community.


Various project areas available depending on skillsets and interests.  Likely project that is Azure cloud oriented advancing the capabilities of the AclaraONE portfolio.  This project could be in any of several respective areas:  analytics, machine learning exploration, Angular UI development, simulator development, performance testing, security technology advancement, mapping visualization enhancements, etc..

Duties and Responsibilities:


The intern will expand and enhance their technical knowledge, software development skills and technology exposure, gain familiarity with AclaraONE systems and business domain.  They will additionally learn industry software development lifecycle disciplines and methodologies.

Skills and Experience:


  • Self-learner, passion for technology and software development
  • Demonstrated software development skills and project work
  • C# .NET skills
  • Angular, Javascript, GIT, Scala, Python skills a plus but not required.
  • Student must be enrolled in an accredited university working towards a bachelor’s or master’s in engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Computer, Industrial, Civil, or STEM related degree)
  • Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.


High School Diploma in Computer Science
