Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. Position Overview

The Director of Product Management - Software, will handle all aspects of product management including the development of product strategies and road maps, leading New Product Introductions (NPIs), product pricing, promotion, and meeting bold growth goals for the business.

In this role, the individual will handle a large scale network management and meter-to-cash software across water and gas AMI networks. This person will be responsible for understanding the different needs of each customer profile, while driving standardization on the AclaraOne Platform. Ultimately, the software will support the AMI hardware product line while helping drive software revenue through value add modules. In addition, this person will be responsible for growing a software product portfolio, driving analytics and visualization products supporting the water and gas utilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver and implement a strategic vision, roadmap and annual budget for the water and gas software P&Ls.
  • Be a leader with vision in the water/gas AMI space.
  • Act as an expert and cross functional guide with respect to the overall market, solution and each product’s capabilities.
  • Provide training and support for Aclara’s customer facing departments.
  • Coordinate efforts, empower internal teams, and balance priorities and concerns of the stake-holders.
  • Build a case with financial analysis for new products, including projected ROI.
  • Set and lead pricing models to meet revenue and profitability goals.
  • Work with Sales, Finance, Operations, and Account Management to deliver a monthly revenue forecast.
  • Working closely with Marketing Communications to develop the core positioning and messaging for the product.
  • Work with internal and external teams to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products and services.
  • Supervise competitor products and activities to support strategic and tactical business planning.
  • Work with internal and external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities that can accelerate the growth of the business.
  • Lead the product life cycle from product introduction to retirement.

Skills and Experience

  • Perform product demos to enterprise customers, as requested.
  • Support the development of proposal responses.
  • Attend sales meetings with customers to highlight solution value and perform system demonstrations to show the functional capability of the system.
  • Assist in developing corporate presentations and documentation to ensure consistent messaging.
  • 8+ years of confirmed experience as a Product Manager, with demonstrated success defining software products.
  • Sophisticated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience working on a team with engineers, sales, finance, and customers.
  • Previous experience influencing cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Previous experience performing market research and collecting competitive information.
  • Previous experience developing and supervising a product roadmap.


Bachelors Degree in Business or Engineering General
