Hubbell Utility Solutions (HUS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HUS is also deeply engaged in product solutions for the Utility Communications and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) space and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HUS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. Position Overview
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with Product Management for gathering requirements for NPI (New Product Introduction) and Sustaining Engineering projects and clearly understand list of deliverables against those requirements.
- Perform detailed requirements breakdown and work with individual Design Engineering team members and plan for delivering those software systems/requirements.
- Lead Concept Design Reviews, Detailed Design Reviews, Design Verification Reviews with Chief Engineering office for various NPI projects.
- Lead Product troubleshooting for field issues, troubleshooting of various issues during product development by owning the problem solving and provide technical guidance to various team members to solve the problem.
- Define "Design of Experiments" framework to solve problems encountered during development and/or various field issues, as needed.
- Use Azure DevOps for creating systems/project instances, Epics, User stories, Tasks etc. and control/manage DevOps interactions for various projects requirements.
- Understand Type Testing requirements of NPI project and plan out the testing and dig into various IEEE/IEC standards to understand type testing requirements as needed.
- Ensure functional testing of the product, define System-level Test plan, and help the testing team conceive various use-cases, corner cases for Product testing. 15-20% domestic and/or international travel is required.
Skills and Experience
- Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and at least 5 years of progressive experience in any occupation in which experience managing projects in the electronics engineering industry is gained.
- In the alternative, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 3 years of experience in any occupation in which experience managing projects in the electronics engineering industry is gained would be acceptable.
- Must also possess the following: at least 3 years of experience with NPI (New Product Introduction) processes, including working with various engineering disciples and external vendors to successfully determine requirements and launch new products from concept to production; at least 3 years of development experience with complex industrial products; at least 3 years of experience with IEEE, IEC, and/or UL Standards for type testing requirements; at least 3 years of experience developing and drafting Scope of Work (SOW) and requirements documents for external design vendors; and at least 3 years of hands-on experience in the lab with Oscilloscope, Current sources etc.
