Position Overview

The Human Resources Manager will be part of the divisional management team and act as business partner in delivering HR programs and services to the manufacturing and warehouse facilities in South Bend, IN, which have approximately 280 total employees covering 3 shifts. This position will also be responsible for small engineering, sales and customer service office facilities located in Menomonee Falls, WI and Tempe, AZ (approximately 20 employee total). The successful candidate would ideally have HR Manager experience in a plant/manufacturing environment, preferably with strong union and labor relations experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversees and coordinates the work of reporting Human Resources staff.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance
  • Recommends and implements practices to improve employee safety, productivity and quality.
  • Advises managers and supervisors in all employee related matters
  • Responsible for assessing employee engagement and culture, and designing a strategy to close gaps to the desired state.
  • Coaches and trains managers in their communication, feedback, recognition, and interaction responsibilities with the employees who report to them.
  • Conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
  • Responsible for hourly time and payroll hours reporting including vacation, sick pay, etc.
  • Responsible for administering all benefits programs (medical, dental, life insurance, disability, and 401(k)) as well as coordinate annual benefit enrollment and health awareness programs
  • Responsible for the performance review process, pay program administration, training, educational reimbursement and new hire orientation programs
  • Performs HR transactions such as promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations of all hourly, non-exempt, and exempt employees
  • Maintain HRIS system to ensure site employee information and payroll is processed accurately
  • Responsible for all state and federal reporting for OSHA, EEO, Veterans, and Employment
  • Work with the HR Centers of Excellence (CoE), functional partners (Legal, Finance, IT, etc.) and HR leadership across HCI to ensure the aligned and effective delivery of HR support/services to the business and functions
  • Active role in supporting all people initiatives and practices including recruitment, talent, leadership development, training, etc
Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Labor Relations, Organization Development or related field.
  • Minimum five years of progressive experience in Human Resources positions in a manufacturing environment
  • PHR,SHRM-CP, SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification desired
  • Prior experience managing the HR function in a Union environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Must have strong Microsoft Office and other technology skills
  • Familiarity with SAP preferred
  • Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions
  • Coordinates projects; communicates changes and progress; completes projects on time
  • Good relationship building skills and ability to partner with clients to influence HR strategies and practices linked to business goals
  • Strong advising and influencing skills on all HR fields including recruitment, retention, talent, leadership development, performance management, organizational design, compensation, and diversity
  • Training experience desired (DDI, Coaching for Success, etc.)
  • Ability to travel regionally and in the U.S. with overnight stays (10%)
Education
Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or Business
