Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers with the design, development, and implementation of test processes and methodologies to facilitate production and the processing of customer returns.
  • Close involvement with process improvements geared to reduce costs and cycle times, improve product quality and enhance operator safety/ergonomics.
  • Provide technical support for production processes, equipment and products at the ANSI COE and remote Contract Manufacturers (CM).
  • Support CM’s with the meter RMA process when required. Includes assisting with special tests & reconfigurations, providing automated scripts and data mining.
  • Assist with the processing of Tier 4 RMA’s at the ANSI COE.
  • Help train personnel on manufacturing equipment and procedures at the ANSI COE and remote Contract Manufacturers.
  • Contribute to specifying & procuring new equipment and tooling to meet production and quality requirements.
  • Develop and maintain instructions & procedures for processes and equipment.
  • Analyze manufacturing data as needed to keep processes compliant, improve yields, and increase productivity.
  • Use JDE, Fusion, SharePoint, and other applications to obtain information for the task at hand.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to assist remote manufacturing operations.

Skills and Experience

Required:

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field with 3 or more years of equivalent Engineering Technician experience.
  • In lieu of an associate degree, a H.S. diploma or GED plus 5 or more years related work experience will be considered.
  • Proficiency with C#.NET programming (or equivalent) including test hardware and product interfaces.
  • Proficiency with MS SQL and Access queries for data mining.
  • Advanced computer skills, including use of all Microsoft Office tools.
  • Skilled in the use of common electronics test equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics and specifications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Firm understanding of EHS principles including direct application of safety and ergonomics in processes and equipment.

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of network and server systems.
  • Experience with RMA logistics and processes
  • Thorough product knowledge of 120/KV2 meters and AMI communication devices
  • IPC-A-610 knowledge.
  • Familiarity with the utility industry including metering and communication devices.

Physical Demand:

  • Occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs.

Education

Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
