Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. Position Overview

The Lead Quality Systems Engineer will ensure the internal quality system is in compliance with regulatory requirements, coordinate audits being performed by regulatory bodies and customers, and manage the corrective action system and internal audit process.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with quality and business teams to ensure compliance to regulatory standards.
  • Maintain and improve process documentation to ensure consistent quality.
  • Provide quality system training to all levels of the organization.
  • Support external audits.
  • Lead product and process audits. Follow up on any audit findings and help to implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Lead others within the quality organization including supporting colleagues through knowledge transfer and collaboration.
  • Lead process improvement projects, alone or as part of a multifunctional team, to drive sustainable corrective actions and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Perform technical data analysis to support manufacturing operations as well as design engineering.
  • Implement, maintain and continuously improve 5S methodology in assigned areas.
  • Monitor and report on quality-related key performance indicators.
  • Work with Material Review Board to disposition nonconforming material and devise remediation actions.
  • Provide advanced quality engineering guidance to new product introduction teams.
  • Conduct training on quality assurance concepts and tools as needed.
  • Support software validation activities.

Skills and Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a quality role or related manufacturing function.
  • Extensive background in applicable quality and lean tools/techniques to include: FMEA, RCA, PPAP, PFD, Gage R&R, VSM, SPC, Poke Yoke, Kaizen,8D and QMS methods.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards and regulatory requirements – ISO, UL, and Measurement Canada
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, identify root causes and provide effective efficient solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including strength in clear and concise technical communications to internal teams, suppliers and external customers.
  • Experience with formal presentations of technical data and root cause/corrective action activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Proven record of effectively managing priorities while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy.


  • Proficiency with MS SQL and Access queries and data mining.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics and specifications.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certified.
  • Familiarity with the utility industry including metering and communication devices.


  • A limited amount of travel is required.
