Position Overview

Operate and maintain high pressure boilers, hydroelectric generator station, rotary screw and reciprocating compressors, plant fire systems, plant hazardous waste storage facility, facility’s process water systems and equipment, as well as assist with plant facility and EHS department projects as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Boiler Operation: Operate and maintain high pressure boilers, generators, pumps, air handlers, cooling towers, and all related equipment throughout the facility.
  • Plumbing: Oversight to site-wide plumbing system. When issues arise may need to perform vital repairs, adjust cooling towers and adjust flows in the system.
  • HVAC: Responsible for the safe, efficient operation of all HVAC systems. Must perform troubleshooting of systems and repair as needed.
  • Electrical & Mechanical: Responsible for the safe and efficient electrical and mechanical operations site-wide. Able to troubleshoot issues, disconnect site-wide power, and repair/replace where possible.
  • Security: Perform security rounds throughout the operations. Backfill as needed for site emergencies.
  • Snow Removal: Operate heavy equipment (loaders, skid-steers and snow plows) as well as shoveling and salting/sanding to maintain all parking lots and walkways.
  • Conduct audits and surveys, collect data, prepare reports, and perform monthly inspections of EHS equipment (fire extinguishers, emergency lights, fall protection equipment, lifts, PPE and GFI’s). Issue out hot work and confined space permits and provide EHS support throughout the plant on the off shifts.

Skills and Experience

  • Sophisticated understanding of boiler systems, compressors, generators and fire systems.
  • Proficiency in at least two of the following areas; plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or mechanical maintenance.
  • Ability to work with hazardous waste and waste disposal and respond to emergency situations pertaining to those materials.
  • Self-motivated and able to perform assigned tasks and duties without direct supervision.


  • 2 years of experience in the Environmental Health and Safety field.


Associates Degree
Trade School in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
