Position Overview
HUBS, Inc. has an opening for a Senior Research Engineer (Data Architect) in Solon, OH.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Designing large scale cloud-based data engineering and data science solutions to meet research requirements.
- Constructing workflows in DevOps for collecting, aggregating, and processing data collected on experimental power system sensory networks.
- Scaling existing infrastructure by identifying and incorporating new data sources and building robust data pipelines for experimentation or proof-of-concept systems.
- Partnering with other researchers to build reliable and scalable data solutions architectures to process big data at scale.
- Understanding existing data sources and database warehouse structures and improving infrastructure for consolidating and aggregating data in an efficient and scalable way.
- Applying rigorous computer science principles to research and implement experimental data processing solutions on large data sets.
- Analysis of large data sets including constructing exploratory visualizations that reveal underlying phenomena.
- Testing and codifying abstract ideas to explain phenomena observed in large data sets. Constructing and coding complex, novel electrical power distribution analytics.
- Designing and implementing data architectures for implementing analytics at scale. Providing written documentation of architectures, algorithms, processing results, etc.
- Communicating research to stakeholders throughout Hubbell, industry, and academia.
- Providing subject matter expertise to product development as technologies are integrated into Hubbell products.
- May work from home up to 2 days per week. Approximately 5-10% domestic travel required.
Skills and Experience
- At least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field and at least 3 years of prior work experience as a researcher in computer science or computer engineering. In the alternative, a PhD or its equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field would be acceptable.
- At least one published article as a primary author in a peer reviewed journal showing relevant research experience
- Demonstrable experience architecting cloud data solutions using large data sets in a research environment.
