Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

The Solution Performance Engineer provides comprehensive analysis for Smart Infrastructure Solutions products and systems. Using engineering disciplines, advanced data analytics, field investigations and problem-solving skills you will be tasked with identifying, documenting and resolving issues found during pilot or production fielded products/systems. Communication and interpersonal skills are key to success in this highly engaging position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Investigate and troubleshoot unexpected systems and/or product performance issues both remotely and through field investigations.
  • Develop test plans, procedures and provide support for field investigation and resolution.
  • Utilize performance tools to identify, analyze, investigate, monitor, and document patterns/trends in fielded products/systems performance.
  • Prepare Failure Analysis Reports documenting problem, investigation, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support daily, weekly and monthly customer performance reviews.
  • Identifying trends, system and/or product issues, that may be low occurrence but high impact.
  • Demonstrate great communication skills by effectively communicating with Customers and Aclara Management on potential technical issues that affect the performance or design of network or as required by the project.
  • Identify process and technology improvements to help drive improvements in overall organizational performance.
  • Capture, document and communicate lessons-learned from root cause analysis activities.

Skills and Experience

Required:

  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field.
  • Advanced analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in the use of using field tools to collect and analyze data.
  • Proven self-starter capable of working independently, as well as under supervision, in a team environment to accomplish departmental objectives.
  • Effective written, verbal and presentation skills to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Ability to effectively interface and communicate with customers.

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience using common RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, protocol and signaling testers).
  • Familiarity with UHF antenna and data transmission.
  • Strong understanding of RF principles as it relates to RF protocols.
  • Experience with programming languages like SQL, VB, Python, etc.
  • Experience with data presentation tools like Power BI, Tableau or equivalent.
  • Five years of relevant years of experience in the utility industry.

Physical Demand:

  • Frequent walking/sitting.
  • Ability to travel via air or land 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs. (Example would be lifting Pelican case loaded with test equipment.)
     

Education

Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
