Position Overview:

 

The Hubbell Summer Internship Program is a 12-week program providing students the opportunity to gain corporate experience, learn about all aspects of our business, and prepare students with the kind of experience needed to have a rewarding career at Hubbell. The Engineering Intern position offers a variety of opportunities including basic engineering tasks related to design, analysis, test, integration and systems engineering. Engineering Interns will typically support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as the day-to-day operations of the engineering department. Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which will help them build a strong network within the Hubbell community.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Create the initial Automated Build and Test (AB&T) system that will be used as a part of the development of Aclara products.
  • The system automates the daily build of the product firmware and will perform FW Unit and Hardware based automated tests.
  • Gain an understanding of present approach and process of embedded product firmware development
  • Propose design of an automated build and test system framework in a phased approach to supported functionality
    • Present overall framework architecture, design and initial functionality to be supported
    • Identify equipment needed
    • Identify software/application development required
  • Build, develop, test and demonstrate initial AB&T System
  • Must be returning for at least one additional semester (Fall 2022) OR enrolling in a post-graduate degree program.
  • This is an in-person internship experience and will be expected to work full-time at 40 hours/week over 12 weeks and will be compensated on an hourly basis.

Skills and Experience

 

Knowledge and understanding of:

  • source code repositories
  • embedded firmware programming
  • embedded firmware build and deployment process
  • wireless communication
  • hardware and functional testing

Experience:

  • Course work related to Embedded Firmware Development.
  • "C" and Python Programming languages.
  • Digital and Analog HW design.
  • Understanding and use of electronic test equipment, especially through automation.
  • Database design and applications (preferred)

Education:

Bachelors Degree
