Division Overview

Position Overview

The Vice President, Product Innovation & Technology Strategy reports to the President of Hubbell Electrical Solutions (HES) and will play a central role in delivering business outcomes related to the development and execution of product innovation, breakthrough and technology initiatives. This role will lead efforts related to the development of a coordinated product line strategy, technology roadmap the accelerated delivery of new and innovative products and solutions.

The preferred candidate should possess strong technical, analytical, communication and program leadership skills, entrepreneurial traits and experience leading complex interdisciplinary programs with technical deliverables; along with a passion to contribute in a hands-on role with a dynamic range of projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish shared product, market, technology and resource consciousness across HES business units.
  • Promote collaboration in developing interoperable and accretive product ecosystems and solutions. Achieve technical alignment, resource efficiency and establish/improve NPD visibility, discipline and vitality across existing and new HES product lines.
  • Evaluate/discover emerging and disruptive technologies and market trends. Facilitate the development and management of a segment-based technology roadmap across electrical business units and internal stakeholders to establish common development priorities (immediate needs), better anticipate future technology requirements as well as identify emerging or critical market, technology and skill gaps.
  • Support vertical market and channel initiatives. Research and socialize market trends, opportunities and anticipated risks. Apply a Design Thinking framework to improve customer and channel intimacy and identify market and technical requirements. Support strategic vertical market initiatives, identify venture partner and/or open innovation collaboration opportunities (intrapreneurship, corporate and academic).
  • Develop and maintain a segment-based product line strategy. Promote enterprise resilience through a multigenerational stream of new product introductions (incremental, innovative and breakthrough) that address evolving market requirements.
  • Source and implement a product lifecycle management solution. Enable HES to rapidly adapt to new customer and market insights, support and accelerate market growth, evolve and optimize solution value while focusing on customer satisfaction, and plan strategic product line pivots, resurrections and phaseouts.
  • Accelerate NTD/NPD, innovation & breakthroughs. Develop and lead a purpose-built interdisciplinary engineering service organization to support and empower critical high-value new technology and new product development opportunities (NTD/NPD) and enable/promote new product innovations and breakthroughs. Expand HES’ capability to serve its diverse markets through the development, expansion and introduction of smart and connected solutions in residential, commercial and industrial markets.
  • Support/enhance strategic customer engagement. Support and enable key National Account customer opportunities across served Hubbell markets and leverage customer feedback to inform technology, product and market development efforts with applicable business units.
  • Develop and maintain Hubbell-wide Standards Committee & online (Harvey) community designed to efficiently promote internal collaboration, coordination and dissemination of knowledge across all applicable Hubbell stakeholders.

Skills and Experience

 

  • Senior product innovation and technology professional with a minimum of 10-15 years of related experience
  • Proven ability to develop and lead all levels of engineering and product development teams
  • Must be self-reliant, resourceful, creative skills and possess acumen in executing strategic business decisions
  • Willingness and ability to adapt to the rapid business and organizational changes that accompany a high-growth environment
  • Excellent oral, visual and writing communication skills needed to effectively lead large scale initiatives and projects
  • with both local and executive management; ability to communicate and collaborate with others
  • Capable of frequent travel to attend meetings or visit customers

Masters Degree
Bachelors Degree in Business
