Job Overview

The Supplier Quality Engineer will support the HES Quality and Sourcing teams by qualifying new suppliers, developing existing suppliers, and working with external suppliers to resolve non-conformance issues. This externally focused supplier development role will be a hands-on role and will require up to 50% travel. This individual will be focused on working with at risk suppliers to meet and exceed our supply base requirements. This person will help establish and standardize a supplier quality program and its corresponding metrics, while playing a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and resilience of the sourcing process.

 

A Day In The Life

  • Work closely with suppliers to assess quality standards and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Ability to build and develop supplier capabilities.
  • Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure that the products meet standards. 
  • Work with Engineering to define and implement sourcing drawings with critical-to-quality attributes.
  • Monitor supplier performance and conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with company requirements. 
  • Work with internal quality and sourcing teams to manage supplier corrective action requests (SCAR) to ensure that all supplier quality issues are addressed in a timely and effective manner. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that quality requirements are clearly defined and communicated to suppliers. 
  • Participate in supplier selection and qualification processes to ensure that suppliers can meet quality requirements. 
  • Provide technical support to suppliers on quality-related issues. 
  • Perform root cause analysis on supplier quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent re-occurrence. 
  • Implement and coordinate supplier metrics such as Parts Per Million (PPM) defective, timely supplier problem solving and aging, on-time delivery, cost recovery and supplier warranty indicators.  

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Equipped with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, natural sciences, business management, industrial science, or statistics
  • 3 years of Supplier Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to perform Capability and Measurement Systems Analysis
  • Excellent statistical analysis and quality assurance skills.
  • Ability to develop Control Plans and PFMEA
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong presentation skills
  • Ability to travel up to 50%; both domestic and international
  • Proven problem solving and product investigation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Attentive to details and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment
  • DMAIC/Six Sigma and/or ASQ Certification (CQE/CQM) a plus
  • Previous experience in APQP and PPAP preferred
