Position Overview

Hubbell is seeking a Manager, Retirement Plans to join our US Benefit Department in Shelton CT. This is a key role supporting Hubbell’s US Benefit Programs, specifically retirement program.

The role will work closely with the Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution consultants and administrators and will handle/support the retirement committee work and lead all compliance related projects and initiatives. In addition, this role has two direct reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee review and allocation of Defined Contribution Plan deposits and contributions, for plan eligibility and contribution eligibility, including the management of integration feeds into and out of DC Plan vendor. Handle funding process to 3PA.
  • Lead relationship with 3PA for Defined Benefit Pension Plan. Support ongoing calculations and data clean up, as well as approval of all plan communications, and compliance requirements.
  • Filing and review of all IRS, DOL and PBGC filings, including 5500’s, SAR’s, SMM’s and PBGC premium and 4010 filings.
  • Provide data backup and coordinate audits of all qualified plans. Responsible for the updating and compliance of all retirement plans, including amendments, addendums and SPDs for all retirement plans.
  • Lead internal communications on all retirement plans items and issues
  • Reviews and pay all retirement related invoices, trust and non-trust payable fees.
  • Subject matter authority for all Acquisition related matter – from due diligence benefits review through integration planning and all related plan amendments, communications, and systems integrations.
  • Maintain information on all outside annuity contracts.
  • Review plans for compliance and plan design possibilities. Understand current market trends and opportunities for internal review and evaluation.
  • Oversee mid-year and year end compliance testing of 401(k) plan
  • Maintain information on all Multi-employer plans that Hubbell participates in. Works with Hubbell divisions and actuaries on union negotiations.
  • Act as Secretary of the Retirement Committee(s). Lead scheduling, agenda, materials, presenters, and documentation / minutes.

Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of IRS and DOL regulations regarding retirement plans.
  • Prior experience in plan administration and solid understanding of operational requirements of DC / DB Plans
  • Prior actuarial experience in plan terminations, IRS submissions for IRS determination, FASB 87 & 88, retirement calculations, etc.
  • Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to synthesize vast amounts of information, strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to distil data into key priorities, key messages.
  • Strong communicator across organizational levels.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Project and vendor management.
  • Outstanding time leadership skills.
  • Ability to mentor and lead non-exempt employees.
