Position Overview

Seeking a licensed Connecticut in-house attorney possessing 5 years of experience with business law, transactional matters, commercial contracts, sales and purchasing agreements, sales agent and distribution agreements, and other corporate legal matters.  This position will be responsible for providing legal counsel to employees of Hubbell’s Electrical Segment. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing advice and counsel on commercial product and services agreements, supplier and sourcing contracts, proposals, distribution and agency agreements
  • Assisting other members of the Legal Department with contractual matters and other commercial legal services to ensure the business unit’s objectives are met
  • Provide legal advice on a range of legal, regulatory and compliance matters, including commercial regulatory matters and government procurement requirements.
  • Lead, anticipate and drive solutions for a range of legal and business issues
  • Provide advice regarding customer and other commercial and business disputes
  • Managing effective use, coordination and oversight of outside counsel and legal spend
  • Collaborating and working as part of a team with business leaders and other partners to provide innovative solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Developing an understanding of and familiarity with the operation of the company’s business, products, markets, facilities, and customers
  • Establishing rapport and a working relationship with business managers to encourage and continue proactive use of in-house legal counsel



Skills and Experience


Strong business orientation; hard-working, energetic, creative, self-motivated, and exhibit a passion for understanding Hubbell’s business and contributing to its business objectives. Sound ethical compliance and orientation and an ability to work independently and as part of a team.  Must approach this role from a business perspective and demonstrate business savvy and strategic/conceptual thinking capabilities. 



  • Excellent academic credentials which include a J.D. from a top-ranked law school
  • Admission to the State Bar of Connecticut, or admitted in another U.S. jurisdiction
  • 5 years of legal experience with a focus on business law, commercial contracts, government procurement contracts and other corporate and commercial transactions
  • Significant experience in drafting and negotiating contracts, licenses and other agreements
  • The ideal candidate will have sound character, be willing to “roll up his/her sleeves,” and have excellent business, legal and ethical judgment
  • Strong project and process management skills
  • In-house experience preferred, but not required
  • Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to communicate (both orally and in written form) and interact effectively with clients and colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Must be a team player and have the ability to build rapport with a diverse range of business and legal partners
  • A self-starter and someone who is business-oriented with an ability to arrive at creative solutions to legal issues
  • Team player capable of leading and participating within cross-functional project teams to meet key milestones under tight timelines and stressful conditions




Doctorate Degree in Law
