Position Overview

Purpose: 
Responsible for the support, administration, design, and compliance of Hubbell Server Operations environment. This will include monitoring, problem recognition, research and design, audit compliance and resolution of issues. Primary responsibilities include recommendation of new technology, design, setup, maintenance, and administration of all servers and supporting infrastructure both On-prem and Cloud environments.

This position will report to the IS Systems Manager and work closely with the Server Operations team to determine proper server configurations, processes, and procedures. This position is also accountable for Hubbell Systems Disaster Recovery servers, hardware/software documentation, server projects, and level3 user support as required. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions: 

  • Implementation and Support for Hubbell systems including installation, maintenance, administration, documentation and troubleshooting of hardware and software for on-prem and multi-Cloud environments.
  • Maintain the overall health, performance, security, and patching of all Hubbell environments.
  • Perform ticket queue monitoring, resolution, and prioritization.
  • Responsible for ensuring Hubbell Compliance and Change Control procedures are strictly followed.
  • Enforce company policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Provide detailed troubleshooting, resolution, and root cause analysis to assure SLA compliance to the business.
  • Ensures systems are monitored and statistics relevant to capacity, performance, utilization, etc. are provided to IS management.
  • Responsible for the administration of backups.
  • Act as technical liaison for the department to provide services and interface with clients and/or vendors.
  • Create and maintain documentation: logical/physical diagrams, run books and other technical engineering documents.
  • Develops Standard operating procedures and Work Instructions and ensure staff comply.
  • Second level end-user support including maintenance and troubleshooting of employee workstations.
  • Identifies areas of improvement in process or technology and presents implementation plan to management.
  • Drive change throughout the organization by creating standardization.
  • Provide technical leadership.
  • Build the foundation for Continuous Availability, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning as they relate to infrastructure capabilities.
     

Skills and Experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • At least 5-10 years’ experience in the following
  • VMware ESX/ESXi Administration and Configuration
  • VMware High Availability Clustering
  • VMware Resource allocation, optimization, and configuration.
  • VMware Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS)
  • Supporting Active Directory in an enterprise environment
  • SAN Implementation and Administration
  • iSCSI Network Skills
  • Proven work experience in Cloud environment with 3-5 years’ experience supporting Multi-Cloud environments.
  • Experience with infrastructure movement techniques, including bulk application transfers into the cloud
  • Provide design and guidance on best practice in support of Cloud backups and Recovery environments.
  • Identify the top cloud architecture solutions to successfully meet the needs of the company
  • Lead our organization through cloud adoption and establish best practices
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the following
  • Working knowledge on installation, configuration of backup software and supporting of HA environments with Immutable Storage
  • Working knowledge in troubleshooting of backups and replication failures
  • Veeam Backup and Replication software a plus
  • Rubrik Ransomware recovery software
  • Active Directory Administration
  • Office 365 administration
  • Azure support and Administration
  • AWS support and Administration
  • System/Network administration
  • Data Center migrations
  • Capacity planning
  • Windows Server Operating system’s
  • Windows Server Update Services
  • Rack and Blade Servers
  • Linux Administration
  • Comprehension of LAN/WAN connectivity.
  • Knowledge of SNMP, NetFlow, DHCP and other administration and management protocols
  • Advanced customer service skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Availability to work a scheduled oncall rotation covering off hours support of production services. Providing necessary off hours support, when necessary, as a SME, in support of Oncall team for product support of P1 issues.
  • Participate in monthly scheduled maintenance.
  • Participate in the evaluation, deployment, and management of new technologies in alignment with other engineers and architects.
  • Provide Support and assistance to other departments as needed.
  • Assist other team members as needed on tasks, projects, etc.
  • Adhere to engineering and architecture standards and participate in technical review meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Physical Abilities:

  • Willing and able to work overtime as required.
  • On call rotation availability.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Frequent walking, bending squatting, pushing, pulling.
  • Negligible travel via air or land.
