Position Overview

This position will report to the Hosting and Cloud Services Leader and work closely with the HCS team to define, establish, and implement proper server configurations, processes, and procedures. This position is accountable for the design, build, administration, and all areas of support of servers, hardware/software documentation, server projects, level 3 / level 4 user support, patching, and compliance, including support for Hubbell systems Disaster Recovery environments. 


The position is responsible for the administration of Hubbell environments 365/24/7, including monitoring, backup, problem recognition, research, isolation, and resolution of issues. Primary responsibilities include recommendation of new technology, design, setup, maintenance, and administration of all servers and supporting infrastructure (on-prem & cloud environments).  The position will drive standardization, optimization, and harmonization of hosting & cloud solutions to ensure delivery of high-quality IT services and products. This position will focus on Hubbell cloud environments and will work closely with the Infrastructure Architecture team in maturing support, governance, and security, and cost awareness and effectiveness over the environments.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implementation and Support for Hubbell systems including installation, build, maintenance, Patching, administration, documentation, and troubleshooting of hardware and software for on-prem and multi-Cloud environments.
  • Maintain the overall health, performance, security, and patching of all Hubbell environments.
  • Act as SME (Subject Mater Expert) on projects critical to the business and hosting operations support of the business. Work in partnership with the business to ensure hosting needs are met for projects and Manufacturing environment support. 
  • Ensures systems are monitored and statistics relevant to capacity, performance, utilization, etc. are provided to IS management.
  • Lead and project manage hosting & cloud services projects such as server implementations, site hardware refreshes, cloud migrations, active directory/DNS/DHCP/printing optimization and modernizations, and documentations initiatives.  
  • Provide service desk queue support, perform ticket queue monitoring, resolution, and prioritization, ensuring group queue is maintain SLA compliance, managing ticket aging and assignment and overall management.
  • Provide cross training, support, and guidance to IT teams.
  • Work with compliance and audit to ensure yearly compliance activities are scheduled and completed in a timely manner.
  • Provide detailed troubleshooting, resolution, and root cause analysis to assure SLA compliance to the business.
  • Liaison with Security Operations, in overall management and compliance of the Hosting and Cloud Service Operations Supported Infrastructure. Ensuring the team meets goals, and SLA compliance and stewards’ security within the supported Landscape.
  • Ensure security is a key priority for all Hosting & Cloud Services, driving timely patching and strong operational processes that protect the enterprise.
  • Develop, enhance, and implement Hosting & Cloud solutions that improve Hubbell’s ease of doing business and simplicity to provide customers with a superior experience, delivering solutions on time and within budget.
  • Establish and enforce appropriate IT policies, processes, and procedures, aligning with industry best practices.
  • Maintain production operations according to business expectations with emphasis on security, availability, and scalability, across both on premises and Cloud. Identifies areas of improvement in process or technology and presents implementation plan to management.
  • Create and maintain documentation: logical/physical diagrams, run books and other technical engineering documents, and maintain and ensure Server Inventory and CMDB records.
  • Develops standard operating procedures and Work Instructions and ensures staff compliance.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • 24/7 on-call availability per time scheduled by manager. 
  • Participate in monthly scheduled maintenance.
  • Provide Support and assistance to other departments as needed.
  • Participate in the evaluation, deployment, and management of new technologies in alignment with other engineers and architects.
  • Adhere to engineering and architecture standards and participate in technical review meetings as required.
  • Assist other team members as needed on tasks, projects, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
  • Willing and able to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Skills and Experience

  • 10 years of experience preferred with:
    • VMWare ESX/ESXI Administration and Configuration
    • VMware High Availability Clustering
    • VMware Resource allocation, optimization, and configuration.
    • VMware Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS)
    • Microsoft Windows Server environments
    • Linux Server environments and administration
    • Server Hardware (Rack and Blade Servers/Storage)
    • System/Network administration
    • SAN Implementation and Administration
    • Microsoft Active Directory Administration preferred.
    • Microsoft Office365 Management and Support (including O365 backup and recovery tool management) preferred.
    • iSCSI Network familiarity
    • Backup/Recovery/DR
      • Working knowledge on installation, configuration of backup software, Troubleshooting and supporting day to day job compliance and activities. Working with Offsite replication and preforming upgrades/patching of backup software environments 
      • Preferred experience with Veeam/Commvault/Rubrik Backup/Replication and Recovery preferred.
  • 5 years of experience preferred supporting:
    • Microsoft Azure / AWS cloud environments 
    • Azure Virtual Desktop
    • Azure VMware Services
    • Experience with infrastructure migration techniques, including re-host, re-platform, and re-factor into the cloud.
    • Provide design and guidance on best practice in support of Cloud backups and Recovery environments.
    • Identify the top cloud architecture solutions to successfully meet the needs of the company.
    • Lead the organization through cloud adoption and establish best practices.
    • Establish cloud cost governance and savings initiatives, and work to implement best practice and cadence of review for cost optimization and savings.
    • Cloud Security Posture Management (Understanding monitoring concepts in the cloud and identify any drifting from security frameworks)
    • Cloud Shell (PowerShell and Scripting)
    • Azure CLI (Command Line Interface) To be able to execute administrative commands on Azure Resources
  • Working knowledge and comprehension of LAN/WAN connectivity, firewall, SNMP, WMI, NetFlow, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and other administration and management protocols.
  • Working knowledge SQL DB Administration, a plus
  • Network switching administration experience a plus
  • Advanced customer service skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work on-call and outside of regular business hours as needed.
  • Experience with server monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

Technical Competencies

  • Hosting & Cloud Services related technical certifications preferred (Microsoft, AWS, etc.)
  • Project Management certification or demonstrated experience preferred.
  • ITIL Foundation v4 certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated system administration experience in a global environment preferred.
