Position Overview

The Business Development Manager will develop, lead, and execute strategies that drive profitable growth within the telecommunications and data center segments. This role requires deep understanding of economic and technological trends in the telecom market and the ability to translate market needs into actionable sales and product strategies.

You will partner closely with field sales teams, top telecom contractors, OEMs, and key national carriers to ensure BURNDY’s products are successfully specified, approved, and adopted across major telecom applications. Responsibilities also include managing the REED database, tracking major projects from inception to completion, and supporting ongoing product education and standard adoption efforts.

 

Territory coverage is West Coast, USA (California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada).  Incumbent should Reside in the Western region of the United States

A Day In The Life

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Customer & Market Engagement

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key personnel at major telecom accounts.
  • Act as liaison between BURNDY and top Turf contractors supporting Tier I carriers (AT&T, Verizon, Lumen, T-Mobile).
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and project managers to ensure proper specification of BURNDY grounding, compression, exothermic, and wire management solutions across Central Office, OSP, and wireless applications.

Sales & Standards Support

  • Monitor and report adoption rates of BURNDY solutions using Salesforce platforms.
  • Maintain up-to-date telecom standards within Hubbell’s sales platform and notify field sales of updates or changes.
  • Stay current with industry standard bodies (ATIS, TIA, BICSI) and participate in key conferences/tradeshows (NATE, PEG, AMOC).

Field Enablement & Training

  • Work closely with field sales to coordinate educational demonstrations and training sessions for turf contractors representing top national carriers (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile/Sprint, Lumen).
  • Support product approval efforts and communicate new standard approvals to internal and external stakeholders.

Contractor & OEM Development

  • Build and expand Hubbell’s relationships with telecom contractors across Mobility (Wireless), Outside Plant (OSP), and Central Office (Wireline/Backbone) markets.
    Contractors include: Blustream (KGPCO), Skylar, Mastec, Crown Castle, CommScope, VECA, Butler America, Ericsson, AWTI.
  • Identify key OEMs and collaborate to gain Hubbell’s specification on new product designs.
    OEMs include Ericsson, Enersys, CommScope, Cisco Systems, Alpha Technologies, Worldwide Technologies, and others.
  • Coordinate Hubbell’s presence at strategic contractor events, regional forums, and national tradeshows.

Skills & Experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the electrical or telecom markets
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Communications, or related field
  •  

Required Qualifications

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, e-mail platforms, and other essential productivity tools
  • Proficiency with Power BI and Salesforce
  • Excellent time management skills; strong self-motivation and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 50%
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; gather and interpret data to develop alternative solutions and resolve issues effectively
