Job Overview

The Mold & Design Engineer is responsible for developing and designing various components, products, or systems. This role typically involves tasks such as creating blueprints, using CAD software for drafting, conducting simulations and analysis, and testing prototypes to ensure functionality, safety, and compliance with industry standards. The Design engineer will participate in conjunction with the sales team in meetings with the customer to be able to offer a product that best fits the customer needs.

A Day In The Life

•    CAD design/drawing experience with CAD and SolidWorks.
•    Experience with MasterCAM - Min 5 years of experience.
•    Design simple to complex tooling, Drill Jigs, and Assembly Jigs to support production.
•    Design molds, components, sub-assemblies, and full assemblies based on design standards.
•    Experience with BOMs, Process Routings and other Engineering documentation
•    Conceptualize designs in 3D, detail the CAD model, and detail the drawings for fabrication.
•    Manufacturing Methods - Knowledge of manufacturing methods, fabrication processes (e.g., forming, stamping, machining, heat treatment, machines/machine tools and cutting tools
•    Project Management and Tooling background with supplier management and Tool Design Knowledge
•    Ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D Drawings for manufacturing designs and specifications.
•    Carries out manufacturing process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.
•    Observes and analyzes manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.
•    Participates in meetings with the sales department and potential customers as a consultant

What will help you thrive in this role?

•    Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field of study and three (3) years of related engineering experience 
•    5+ years’ experience tooling design
•    3+ years of experience in 2D, 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, masterCAM).
•    SAP experience preferred 
•    Background in thermoforming manufacturing
•    Substantial related experience as die & tool design 
•    Experience with extrusion equipment or thermoforming equipment companies
•    Detailed knowledge of castings (die and investment), forgings, plastic injection moldings, extrusions, machining, sheet metal, surface treatments (powder coating, painting, plating), stamping, drawing.
•    Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
•    Must be able to lift 50lbsKnowledge of Excel and Word
