Job Overview

The Manager I Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for managing and implementing manufacturing processes within the Engineering Department utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. The Manager I Manufacturing Engineering proactively works to produce high quality goods efficiently using the most cost-effective methods and with the aim of reducing the impact of production on the environment. 
 

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by: 

Managing, directing, and coordinating manufacturing processes within the manufacturing plant: Developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.  

Implementing manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.  

Analyzing and implementing work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designing layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.  

Supervising planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.  

Assuring product and process quality by implementing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.  

Estimating production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.  

Implementing manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.  

Providing manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.  

Applying statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.  

Maintaining good housekeeping and a safe working environment and assuring compliance with company policies and procedures.  

Establishing goals and encouraging growth and new ideas and following up as needed. 

Being a coach and mentor while coordinating daily workload and facilitating projects.  

Being a liaison between departments and facilities to disperse information and encourage communication.

What will help you thrive in this role?

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial (required) 

6-10 years prior experience in Manufacturing Engineering with proven leadership and management abilities (required) 

Proficiency in using Solid Edge CAD software required (required) 

Advanced Knowledge of business administration, project management, lean, Six Sigma, operational excellence preferred 

Ability to read and interpret drawing requirements and specifications is required 

Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills are required 

Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet critical deadlines
