Position Overview

Hubbell Lighting has an opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer at its facility in Rowland Heights, CA

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support all phases of a project and product life cycle including concept, development, test, production, in-service support.
  • Develop complex mechanical and electrical system to meet the requirements and develop new design/analysis process and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
  • Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product design.
  • Perform Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Cost, Quality, Inventory, and Planning Analysis (DFX) by utilizing Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) simulation tools and checklists during the transition phase from Engineering to Production before Class A / B / C Product Launches and Transfer of Work projects.
  • Establish Engineering Simulation tool including CFD, FEA for R&D.
  • Serve as technical consultant for disposition, corrective actions and coordination with cross-functional groups to identify/implement solutions and drive strategic improvement relative to production process
  • Perform research, design, and development of manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods, and production equipment, while utilizing lean techniques.
Skills and Experience
  • Assist with implementing actions to improve lead times and reduce defects in assembly, and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow for maximum efficiency.
  • Develop cost estimates as required and identify cost-saving alternatives to guide the development of the product changes and value engineering projects.
  • Assist in preparing Authorizations for Expenditure (AFEs) to obtain capital funding for value engineering projects and facilitate their approval as required.
  • Help develop final product documentation for release to manufacturing to include drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Participate in design reviews, concept, prototype, and other presentations tools.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">At least 3 years of experience in FEA, CAD, and LED technology.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">At least 2 years of experience in CFD and electro-mechanical product design.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">At least 1 years of experience in SAP.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">At least 3 years of experience in Manufacturing Environment.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">At least 3 years of experience in building control and lighting.
Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering
