Position Overview

The Manufacturing Process Engineer provides daily manufacturing and processing engineering support to the business unit. You will develop and implement machine and assembly process improvements focused on continuously improving safety, quality, manufacturing efficiency, and reliability.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
- Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment lay out
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
- Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
- Key KPI for success increase: Cost of poor quality (scrap) and direct labor productivity
- Trouble shoot, repair, & coordinate reliability maintenance on assigned area manufacturing equipment
Skills and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
- 1-3 years manufacturing experience in a lean and “hands on” environment
- Experience leading capital projects from start to completion including writing AFEs (Authority For Expenditure).
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes, including assembly and testing.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
- 3 years Polymer or Fiberglass spray/molding or processing experience
- AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Microsoft Excel experience
