Job Overview
The Machine Operator- Hotbox, will be responsible for setting up and operating at least 2 of the 3 machines used in the Hotbox process, CNC plasma tables, power brakes and foaming spray booth. Operation will be done in accordance to blueprint specifications or written directives. This will include machine maintenance, programming, optimizing toolpaths, handling materials and ensuring high quality and efficiency in production.
A Day In The Life
- Set up and operate at least 2 of the 3 machines (CNC Plasma, Brake Machines and/or Foam Booth) according to job specifications and safety standards.
- CNC Plasma: Program and operate CNC toolpaths from CAD drawings selecting proper tooling and position settings.
- CNC Plasma/Brake: Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring tools.
- Spray Foam Booth: Operate spray guns, wear required PPE (supplied-air hood) and spray fiberglass materials.
- Optimize machine setups to minimize material waste and maximize productivity.
- Maintain, clean, and organize machinery and work area, ensuring functionality and safety.
- Train and monitor new and existing employees, promoting the company’s safety programs and enforcing safety guidelines.
- Responsible for production output, product quality, on-time shipping, and minimizing costs while maintaining standards.
- Load and unload materials, verify settings, and palletize finished parts systematically.
- Operate overhead cranes and other lifting devices safely.
- Perform additional duties such as deburring, drilling, buffing fabricated steel parts using hand and power tools.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, maintaining a trusting relationship and ensuring team alignment with production goals.

- Physical exertion requiring full use of limbs; ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Exposure to adverse weather conditions, dirt, dust, grease, chemicals, sparks, and loud noises in a shop environment.
- Work involves operating or being in close proximity to powered equipment and machinery.
What will help you thrive in this role?
- At least one (1) year of industry-specific experience in operating CNC machinery for metal fabrication.
- Experience in a leadership role within a plant or warehouse setting.
- Strong organizational and communication skills; proficient in using CAD software and programming CNC machines.
- Familiarity with standard industry equipment and safety procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent; further technical training or education is a plus.
- Experience with forklift operation preferred.
- Computer literacy and ability to manage teams effectively
- Protective eyewear, earplugs, gloves, arm protectors, plastic apron, and other
personal protective equipment as required.
- Hand tools, pneumatic air drill, rubber mallet, scrapers, measuring devices, and
other related tools and equipment.
- This combined role requires a versatile, safety-conscious individual who is proficient in operating and managing CNC plasma, brake machines and foaming spray booth (at least 2 of the 3) ensuring efficient production and quality control in metal fabrication processes.
