Job Overview
A Caster is responsible for preparing molds for concrete casting. This includes waxing molds with resin, applying fiberglass, and ensuring a smooth application for concrete pouring.
A Day In The Life
- Prepare and wax metal molds and cores on a raised platform.
- Apply and form fiberglass inside molds using hands and large scissors.
- Operate an overhead hoist to position and secure the "hat" over the mold.
- Mix and pour concrete into molds, ensuring even distribution and smoothness.
- Use a vibrator to remove air pockets and finish the concrete surface.
- Unhook and clean molds post-casting, and prepare for the next batch.
- Manage tools and equipment for casting and finishing processes.
