Position Overview

Direct and coordinate all efforts within the manufacturing facility to achieve productivity goals, ensure  on-time delivery, maintain quality and minimize operating expenses, while ensuring employee safety.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive accountability for critical KPI’s of safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
  • Coordinate production levels with production planning department to ensure a balanced production capacity.
  • Organize each production department with proper manpower to meet operational requirements. Make necessary manning/overtime adjustments to support monthly production and shipping goals.
  • Coordinate all efforts with maintenance and tooling departments to have all equipment, dies and fixtures available as needed.
  • Ensure all production employees are properly trained on Safety and job-specific skills.
  • Drive capacity and productivity improvement projects aiming cost savings using process improvement techniques (6Sigma and Lean: Kaizen, SMED, etc.), working together with engineering, maintenance, tooling and HR Departments.
  • Assure product quality maintaining close contact with different support departments.
  • Maintain close control of operating budget and stay well within operating costs (overtime, manufacturing expenses, etc.).
  • Perform administrative duties concerning company policies, rules, union agreements and safety rules. Maintain positive employee relationship working with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Approving timecards on weekly basis for hourly and salaried employees. Approving vacation/personal days/emergency vacation days in light of the union contract.
  • Assist Human Resources in resolving personnel problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions and recommending actions.

Skills and Experience

  • Preferred BS degree in engineering or business
  • 10-15 years Manufacturing leadership experience including Production/Materials experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
  • Manufacturing experience (i.e. Metal Stamping, Steel Slitting, Assembly Operations)
  • SAP ERP experience a plus
  • Understanding of Operations Metrics and managing to metrics and ability to influence metrics through planned decision making
  • Experience with forecasting manufacturing needs/manufacturing hours to meet key objectives
  • Ability to understand bottleneck in shop, improve, identify opportunity for improvement and implement plan for change



Bachelors Degree in Engineering General or Other
