Hubbell's Portsmouth, NH location is looking for a Sr. Manufacturing Test Engineer. The Sr. Manufacturing Test Engineer takes on a wide range of tasks as both a test engineer and manufacturing engineer. In this position, the engineer develops and implements test systems and processes to support large-scale production, making sure products are high-quality and reliable. Additional responsibilities include improving cycle times, overseeing shop floor procedures, organizing layouts, and addressing both hardware and software problems. The role also involves developing and maintaining manufacturing software, integrating third-party tools, and ensuring smooth interaction between internal and external systems.
A Day In The Life
Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by:
- Design, develop, implement test processes, fixtures, equipment and software for ANSI Meters products. This includes in-process tests, final assembly tests, and custom solutions for both new and existing products to facilitate production and the processing of customer returns.
- Lead test engineering efforts on new product introduction teams, overseeing the development and implementation of assembly and test processes from development to high-volume production. Work closely with design, software, hardware, and manufacturing teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop and implement process improvements to reduce costs & cycle times, improve product quality and enhance operator safety/ergonomics.
- Interface with 3rd party suppliers to resolve test and product problems.
- Interface with 3rd party development teams to support integration of their product into the manufacturing process. Support their tools and other software applications.
- The ability to create from scratch manufacturing software applications and production tools that use 3rd party provided libraries and DLLS.
- Provide technical support as required for production processes and equipment.
- Specify and procure new equipment & tooling to meet production and quality requirements.
- Develop and maintain process and equipment instructions and procedures.
- Train personnel on manufacturing equipment and procedures.
- Analyze manufacturing data as needed to keep processes compliant, improve yields, increase productivity.
- Collaborate with design engineers to identify and resolve performance issues and improve quality.
- Continuously improve testing methodologies, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Comply with all policies of the Company: Information Security, Health and Safety, Environment and Quality and whichever other policy is in place.
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent or minimum of three years performing manufacturing or engineering function developing processes
- Strong proficiency with .Net programming (C#, VB.Net or equivalent) including test hardware and product interfaces
- Strong proficiency with MS SQL (or equivalent) database queries and data mining
- Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes and provide effective efficient solutions.
- Firm understanding of EHS principles including direct application of safety and ergonomics to all processes and equipment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including strength in clear concise technical communications to internal teams, suppliers and external customers
- Solid understanding of quality control methods
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics and specifications
- Knowledgeable of Lean methodologies
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to direct technicians.
- Proven record of effectively managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of network and server systems
- Familiarity with the utility industry including electric metering and communication devices and/or Measuring Instruments Directive.
- Familiarity with ANSI standards related to Electric Meters accuracy and performance.
- ERP experience, preferably SAP.
