Job Overview
The Purchasing & Logistics Manager will oversee procurement activities and manage the end-to-end logistics process to ensure efficient supply of goods and services. This role focuses on maintaining inventory levels and ensuring timely and accurate delivery of materials to support business operations across several locations, including Aclara contract manufacturers. They will work closely with cross-functional teams (operations, finance, product management, sales, and engineering) to ensure forecasts are appropriately generated and communicated across all stakeholder groups.
A Day In The Life
- Manage purchasing and logistics personnel in multiple locations/time zones, responsible for conducting employee performance reviews and providing employee feedback
- Collaborate with suppliers, planning and operations teams to develop accurate demand forecasts and supply plans
- Manage internal purchasing process to align with business forecast and meet customer demand
- Interface with contract manufacturers to ensure material coverage and forecast adherence
- Support new product introductions (NPI) with sourcing, cost estimation, and logistics planning
- Manage relationships with internal logistics, warehouse, and compliance teams, along with third-party logistics providers, freight forwarders, and carriers
- Monitor shipping performance and proactively resolve delays, damage, or service failures
- Minimize excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory
- Support cycle counts, inventory audits, and reconciliation processes
What will help you thrive in this role?
- 3+ years of supply chain / operations experience
- Management experience
- ERP knowledge (SAP preferred) including but not limited to inventory control, supply/demand allocation, shipping/receiving, material master and planning parameters
- Manufacturing/Contract manufacturing experience
- Logistics experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Bachelors Degree preferred
