The Hubbell Internship Program is a 10 to 12-week program providing students the opportunity to gain corporate experience, learn about all aspects of our business, and prepare students with the kind of experience needed to have a rewarding career at Hubbell. The purpose of this role is to gain professional experience in a test environment.

The Engineering Intern position offers a variety of opportunities including basic engineering tasks related to design, analysis, test, integration, and systems engineering. Opportunities can vary from working in Application Tooling, Utility, Lean Manufacturing, Research & Development lab, New Product Development, continuous improvement or more.
A Day In The Life
Engineering Interns will typically support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as the day-to-day operations of the engineering department. Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which will help them build a strong network within the Hubbell community.
Roles and Responsibilities will vary by Hubbell business location, but may include the following:
- Review current engineering program activities to make recommendations for changes/improvement opportunities
- Perform tests to assure quality control
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Help develop real-time embedded firmware for microprocessor-based grid modernizing products
- Design, implement and test embedded firmware and related applications for microprocessor-based grid modernizing products in an Agile development environment
- Participate in daily stand-up meetings and sprint planning sessions to track and plan your development work
- Lead and participate in code and design reviews
- Present to engineering and management teams
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Student must be enrolled in an accredited university working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency, with preferred experience using CAD/related drawing software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Strong C programming language skills
- Experience with Python programming
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with real-time operating systems
- Experience with GIT
- Experience with Microsoft's Azure Dev Ops
- Experience developing with an Agile process
- Cortex M4 knowledge
- Experience with tools such as oscilloscopes, function generators, logic analyzers
Compensation Range: $22.50/hour - $29.00/hour (dependent upon graduation date)
